Pleated Christmas Hearts, our way

It’s that time of the year again!
Pleated Christmas Hearts, or Julehjerte as they are called in Danish, is a long tradition starting back in the late 1800s.
If you know us, you know that we love to honour both Scandinavian and Mediterranean traditions and this couldn’t be an exception.

The idea is to gather with friends and family and create paper hearts using a characteristic way of pleating.

We played around and created our own patterns that spell out LAZY. Lazy for Lazy Snail Design or lazy for our upcoming (definitely) lazy holidays. Still never lazy for printing, cutting and assembling paper hearts.

Download the PDF file here.

It contains patterns for all four letters and instructions on the process. The instructions page specifically applies to the letter L and is there to guide you through the basic pleating principles. Once you get the hang of it, you can move on to the other letters or even create your own patterns! Attach a hook on the heart’s top and there you have your handmade tree ornament
